Professional info
Isabella Romero is currently enrolled at California State University, Monterey Bay. After graduating with her Bachelor of Arts honors degree in Psychology in the Fall of 2016, Isabella intends to acquire additional research experience in the field of veteran mental health, with a focus on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and co-occurring substance use disorders. As an undergraduate, she has worked within the Clinical and Forensic Evaluation (CAFE) lab, under the mentorship of Dr. Danielle Burchett, where she evaluated the construct validity of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2-Restructrured Form, within a forensic inpatient population. Through her experience volunteering in the mental health service of the Veteran’s Affairs Monterey Clinic in Seaside, CA, she has developed an interest in PTSD and its relation to substance use disorders, particularly in the role of both alcohol and cannabis in the development and maintenance of PTSD symptoms. Currently, Isabella is serving as a research assistant within SAIL, working on Dr. Babson’s randomized control trial of a behavioral sleep intervention for veterans with insomnia and cannabis use disorder. With the accumulation of these and other relevant research experiences, she plans to one day pursue a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology.
