Professional info
Brienna (Brie) Meffert graduated with honors from the University of Kentucky in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Bachelor of Arts in English, and a minor in Biology and Neuroscience. While at UK, Brie worked in Dr. Richard Milich's and Dr. Elizabeth Lorch’s Social Impairment Among Children with ADHD laboratory. There she received a summer fellowship to explore how clinically malleable factors such as emotion regulation can help explain the relation between social impairment and ADHD symptoms in elementary-age children. Currently, Brie is extending her training in clinical research by working with Dr. Adrienne Heinz in the Substance and Anxiety Intervention Laboratory of the National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the Palo Alto VA Health Care System. Specifically Brie is helping to conduct a randomized clinical trial that examines the impact of neurocognitive functioning and remediation on recovery outcomes among veterans with substance use disorders and PTSD. After gaining additional research experience, Brie plans to pursue graduate school in clinical psychology.
