Professional info

 

Jimmie Sottile is a fourth year student in the clinical psychology PhD program at Pacific Graduate School of Psychology at Palo Alto University, with an emphasis in trauma. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Bard College.

 

After graduating from college, Jimmie worked as a research assistant at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, Maryland. He assisted with research studies investigating military and veteran suicide including the Study to Assess Risk and Resilience in Service members (STARRS).

 

Within the Substance and Anxiety Intervention Laboratory, Jimmie is working with Dr. Kimberly Babson conducting clinician administered diagnostic interviews and leading behavioral sleep intervention groups for a study investigating the impact of behavioral sleep interventions on veteran cannabis use.

 

Jimmie’s research interests include emerging treatments for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and harm reduction treatment approaches to substance use disorders (SUD). This is highlighted by his dissertation work which focuses on an investigation of motives, consequences, and risk behaviors associated with MDMA use.
